Are you planning a block party or community event?
The Town of Altona encourages community building activities, and has made it easier to apply for a temporary street closure in order to facilitate these types of activities!
Your Responsibilities:
- Apply for a temporary closure: Submit a Temporary Street Closure Application Form at least 30 days before the proposed closure date and wait for approval.
- Notification: Provide written notice to affected residents and businesses in advance (one week prior for closures lasting less than a day, two weeks prior for closures lasting longer than a day)
- Signage and Barricades: Arrange and maintain appropriate signage and barricades throughout the closure period. Barricades can be borrowed from the Town of Altona Public Works department and must be returned in good condition.
- Access: Emergency vehicles must always have unrestricted access during the closure with a minimum width of 10 ft required for the passage of emergency vehicles
- Clean-Up: Ensure the street is clean and free of debris upon reopening.
We reserve the right to deny any request if it poses significant safety risk or undue inconvenience, and may revoke approval if the proponent fails to meet the conditions of the Temporary Street Closure Policy.
