Now Hiring: Recreation Facilities Foreman

Are you organized, motivated, and mechanically inclined? Do you have experience operating equipment, supervising staff and a desire to serve the community? You could be just the person we are looking for!

We are currently hiring a Recreation Facilities Foreman for the Town of Altona. This is a full-time, permanent position, and includes evening and weekend shift work in the arena “ice-in” season.

The Recreation Facilities Foreman is responsible for the maintenance and operation of all recreation facilities, including Millennium Exhibition Centre, Altona Aquatic Centre, Gallery in the Park, Altona Centennial Park, Cemeteries, and other various parks and green spaces. The position includes hiring, training and supervising staff, operating equipment, maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and professional standards, and planning for future upgrades, improvements and budgetary needs. 

The successful candidate for the Recreation Facilities Foreman position will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum of grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in recreation facility operations (ice plant or swimming pool operations) and equipment and infrastructure repairs, or related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience operating equipment 
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise personnel
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Pool Operator Certificate and Refrigeration License are assets. We are willing to train the right candidate who does not already possess these certifications.  

The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
