Tree Planting Workshop

June 13, 2026, we will be holding a Tree Planting Workshop in Ash Park from 10 am - 12 pm
Participants will learn how to plant a healthy and thriving tree, put that learning into practice by helping us plant new trees in Ash Park, and walk away with a gift certificate for a tree from Two Sparrows Greenhouse to plant at home using what they learned in the workshop!

This workshop is part of Altona's Urban Forest Management Strategy, a 20 year strategy focused on the sustainable growth and management of our urban forest.
We can all agree, trees make Altona a better place to live. Our long-term plan outlines measurable actions and objectives to increase Altona's tree canopy to 15% in the next 20 years.
In 2025, the Town of Altona planted 100 new trees. In 2026, we are aiming to plant 250 new trees in Altona to support the goals of the plan. This ambitious target will be accomplished by doing some mass planting exercises (like this one, in Ash Park, adding 72 new trees), by increasing our other public plantings, and by giving away up to 50 trees to be planted on private property in Altona!
