Comprehensive education from kindergarten to grade 12 is available in Altona’s four schools:
Ecolé Elmwood Elementary
Ecolé West Park School
Ecolé Parkside Junior High
W.C. Miller Collegiate
These schools are all within the Border Land School Division. Altona schools offer up-to-date teaching methods with state-of-the-art technology, taking your child from the basic three “R’s” to vocational and university preparation. Altona educators are well-chosen and dedicated. They have a passion for teaching often lacking in larger, urban centres.
The Regional Alternative Education Centre offers a place for mature students of all ages to continue their education. It offers accredited high school courses for those with the goal to complete Grade 12 or who want to upgrade their skills for re-entry into the job market.
Red River College and the University of Manitoba, provide post-secondary courses to students while allowing them to remain in their home communities. These courses, offered by distance education, are identical to on-campus courses.
Kiddie Sunshine Centre, the local day care facility, provides a vital social service to young, working families. A preschool program is also offered and all programs are carried out by a qualified, loving staff.
The South Central Regional Library in Altona is located on the main floor of Golden West Plaza. The 4,000 sq. ft. facility houses a collection of over 60,000 books, magazines as well as video and audio materials.
