Altona Man Charged in Attempted Armed Robbery

On the 28th of April at approximately 7:40 pm, Altona Police were dispatched to an attempted Armed Robbery at a local restaurant. Police attended to Lok Lok Garden and were advised of the following.

An adult male had come into the restaurant wearing a black balaclava with a knife in his hand. He told the person at the cash register to give him the money or he would get his girl friend from his car and she has a gun. At this time another restaurant employee came out of the kitchen and the man fled with no money.

Through the use of local surveillance cameras, police were able to obtain images of a suspect matching the description that had been provided to police by the victims.

Police have arrested and charged a 57 year old Altona man with Attempted Armed Robbery and Assault with a Weapon. He has been released on a Promise to Appear in Court with a future court date in Altona.

 

During the 1st quarter of 2019 Altona Police Service Impaired stats have almost tripled. During this same time frame in 2018 police dealt with 3 impaired/drive over .08 files. In 2019 police have had 8 files of this nature. There is no direct coloration between the legalization of Cannabis as all of the accused drivers were impaired by alcohol. Police however would like to remind people to please not drink and drive.
