Altona, MB. March 25, 2021:
“Town of Altona Council shares the real concern and deep disappointment of residents at the announcement of the temporary change in operation of our Emergency Room. The community in Altona and in the surrounding area relies on the timely availability of health care in our region. We also support and appreciate the health care professionals who care for our loved ones daily. The circumstances currently affecting our ER need addressing, and we acknowledge the steps being implemented by Southern Health-Santé Sud to continue to provide critical care service for the interim, as well as their responsiveness to community concern. While we are encouraged by the hard work that has been invested by all parties in reaching a temporary solution, we will also hold Southern Health accountable to their expressed goal of returning to full 24-7 ER service in a timely manner. Council will continue to advocate with that focus, and to keep residents aware of the progress towards that goal,” said Mayor Al Friesen.
The Town of Altona Administration will work with Southern Health-Santé Sud to coordinate a virtual town hall in the coming weeks to address the community’s questions and concerns.
